FAQ's
IS THERE A FEE TO PLAY?
As an SGS student, you have already paid your athletic fees via your tuition/ancillary fees - Thus, there is no further charge to play intramurals unless you elect to form your own non faculty-affiliated team.es and descriptions.
WHAT IS IMLEAGUES / HOW DO I SIGN UP?
All players must have an IMLeagues account and be on the IMLeagues roster of each team they intend to play for BEFORE playing in their first match of the season. Refer to the following document for instructions on how to sign-up - https://kpe.utoronto.ca/sites/default/files/imleagues_cheat_sheet_updated.pdf
WHAT IS THE LEVEL OF PLAY LIKE?
Intramurals have players of all skill levels from high to beginner. The divisions are organized by level of competitiveness and skill with Division 1 being the highest. So in general, the most experienced players play in the higher divisions and less experienced players play in the lower divisions. At the first intramural game of the season, you can also see what the level is of the division you signed up for - if the division does not match your personal level of experience then you can submit a request to intramurals@utoronto.ca to change to a higher or lower division. Requests must be submitted before the week of the division’s 2nd regular season game to be considered.
WHAT TEAM AM I ON, WHEN ARE MY GAMES?
All players will be contacted by their team captains after the pre-season captains meeting at latest. Captains will share the detailed game schedule for the season with their players. Game schedules can also be viewed through IMLeagues close to the start of the season.
DO I NEED TO BRING EQUIPMENT?
It is recommended that all athletes bring any personal equipment they require to play (including footwear/skates, padding/guards, helmets/eye protection, rackets etc.). General equipment required for the game will be provided by the athletic facilities (nets, balls, pucks, shuttlecocks, etc.). In some cases, a limited number of items may be available to use/rent from the Athletic Centre equipment desk (such as tennis rackets for $2.00 + HST and basketballs/volleyballs free of charge). *EXCEPTIONS* = All equipment required to play is provided by intramurals for Women’s Lacrosse, All equipment - with the exception of a required mouthguard which athletes need to purchase themselves - is provided by intramurals for Women’s Field Hockey.
DO I NEED TO PLAY FOR SGS?
In Divisions 1 & 2 across all sports and gender categories, athletes are required to play for their faculty-affiliated team if there is one registered in the division you wish to play. If you are affiliated with SGS in addition to another faculty (such as Skule, OISE, Dentistry etc.), you may play for teams from either affiliation. If there is no SGS team in the division you wish to play, you are allowed to play for ANY TEAM in the division by contacting their captain to join. In Divisions 3, 4, & 5 across all sports and gender categories, athletes may play for ANY TEAM. You may register your own independent team (can have players from different faculties playing together) in DIVISIONS 3, 4, & 5 across all sports and gender divisions.
